Wenmoor II Project Reveal: Luxury Tulsa Estate Refresh

Old-world style transformed by Kirkendall Design, Tulsa, OK into a spacious, modern kitchen with white cabinets, quartzite countertops and backsplash, and a high vaulted ceiling featuring a wood beam.

We’re excited to launch a new blog series highlighting large-scale home renovations by the Kirkendall Design team. The goal? To show how luxury living doesn’t always mean starting from scratch—sometimes all it takes are intentional, well-designed updates.  Our focus is on high-end renovations that feel fresh and revitalizing while honoring and embracing the home’s original architecture.

In Northeast Oklahoma, old-world architectural styles—such as French Country, Tudor, Mediterranean, and other classic motifs—were prominent 25–35 years ago. Today, many of these homes feel stuck in a style that does not reflect our clients’ lifestyles. Throughout this series, we’ll show how Kirkendall Design takes inspiration from the architecture of each home and creates timeless interiors that feel more modern.

Wenmoor II Project Reveal

Our first home in this series is our Wenmoor II project, a beautiful old-world European–style estate spanning 7,000 sqft and built in 2006. This luxury home demonstrates how a thoughtful, whole-home refresh can transform an older property into a timeless, livable space—without the need for a full renovation.

This estate had strong architectural elements but outdated finishes that didn’t reflect the classic style the homeowners desired. The goal was to modernize while preserving the home’s luxury and elegance. Let’s take a look!

Luxury Kitchen Refresh & Cabinet Updates

The kitchen feels completely brand new, even though we worked with the existing cabinets and layout. Originally, the kitchen featured distressed, old-world cabinetry with ornate details and nicked surfaces. To modernize it, we filled and smoothed imperfections, applied fresh paint, and added new hardware.

We removed the bulky crown molding and the “eyebrow” arch over the glass cabinets, replacing the glass for a cleaner, more modern appearance.  We kept the original hood, but simplified the look by removing the large crown header. The dated countertops and backsplash were replaced with beautiful quartzite, and the kitchen island was painted a contrasting color for visual interest.

Groin Vault Ceiling

This estate features stunning groin vault ceilings in the entry and main hallway. Originally painted a dark bronze, the groin vault ceilings made the space feel heavy and dated. We updated the paint and added new lighting to brighten the area and let the architectural beauty of the groin vault ceiling shine.

Lighting & Paint

Lighting and paint can completely transform a space. For this project, our client requested new fixtures and fresh paint throughout the home—a simple way to refresh it without a major renovation. We selected Wind’s Breath OC-24 from Benjamin Moore, a neutral with gray undertones, and paired it with modern lighting to elevate each room while highlighting the home’s architectural details.

Bring Timeless Luxury to Your Tulsa Estate

Our Wenmoor II project shows how a beautiful estate with old-world charm can be thoughtfully refreshed to feel both timeless and modern. By updating finishes, highlighting architectural details, and blending classic and modern styles, even a home from 25 years ago can feel fresh and inviting.

If your Tulsa home feels a little dated, imagine what a luxury refresh could do. At Kirkendall Design, we transform traditional and European-inspired interiors into timeless, livable spaces that feel fresh, elegant, and uniquely yours.
