Interior Design Trends for 2026

Ready to see what’s trending for the new year? While we love keeping an eye on trends, at Kirkendall Design we’re intentional about what we bring into each home—only incorporating what aligns with our client’s vision. Our focus is always on creating classic, timeless spaces that tell their story through luxurious, livable style.

From kitchens to bathrooms, furniture to color, here’s what is trending.

Bathroom Trends

These finishes bring luxury and livability together, creating spa-like retreats that feel personal and timeless.

Kitchen Trends

The kitchen remains the heart of the home, and 2026 is all about statement details.

Wall Treatments & Color Trends

Color drenching and fully paneled rooms are still trending! Whether it’s a powder bath or a cozy reading nook, this trend is great for bringing personality to a space!

We noted this in last year’s trend report, but jewel tones, rich browns, and vibrant greens are still popular—often paired with deep reds. However, Pantone recently announced Cloud Dancer as their 2026 Color of the Year. We’ll see if that brings a shift toward more neutral tones next year.

Furniture Trends

Goodbye bulky sofas—2026 favors smaller, traditional silhouettes with tufting, skirting, and feminine details.

  • Accent chairs, ottomans, and pillows with pattern play and layering. We saw this trend at the Utah Valley Parade of Homes.
  • Darker, polished wood tones
  • Mixing traditional furniture with modern upholstery for a fresh, sophisticated look

Trends on the Way Out

We are seeing less and less of bouclé fabrics, ultra-light wood tones, and gold accents. Fluting feels like it’s on its way out as well.
