Our Forest Meadows Project is a renovation and furnishings refresh designed for a new season of life. Our clients loved their long-time home and its established neighborhood in Tulsa. Rather than moving, they chose to invest in the place where so many memories had already been made, embracing a luxury home renovation that honors the past while adapting for today’s lifestyle.

With adult children and grandchildren gathering often, the goal was clear: create a home that could comfortably host family holidays, everyday meals, and meaningful time together. The entire main level was reimagined to be a multigenerational gathering space—welcoming, practical, and layered.

Kirkendall Design provided full-service interior design for the kitchen, living room, dining room, foyer, and adjoining public spaces, including the selection and styling of all furnishings throughout the main living areas.

Forest Meadows reflects a thoughtful decision to stay—updating a well-loved home to support aging in place and creating space for years of memories still to come.

Kitchen Renovation

The kitchen was completely reimagined to support large family dinners and everyday use. We explored several layout options with our clients before landing on a solution that maximized the open connection to the breakfast nook and living room and improved storage and functionality of the kitchen.

The original layout included a large peninsula that visually and physically divided the kitchen from the living areas. By removing the peninsula and replacing it with a smaller—but still generous—central island, we were able to create a more open, connected feel with walkways on both sides.

Another key change involved the pantry. A full-height pantry door previously occupied valuable kitchen real estate. We removed that door and transformed the pantry into a dedicated scullery, now accessed from the hallway just off the kitchen. This allowed the kitchen itself to feel more streamlined while gaining a kitchen extension designed for entertaining and daily life.

The new kitchen design features soft, neutral cabinets and a stained weathered oak island to add depth and ground the space. The custom hood with vertical satin brass detailing acts as a decorative focal point. Quartz countertops, classic ceramic tile backsplash, and fully integrated appliances create a timeless, high-end feel. The white GE Café range with bronze knobs ties it all together—functional for everyday family life, yet still beautifully classic.

We designed a custom white oak banquette for the breakfast nook and paired it with two bistro tables, making the space both functional and flexible for our client’s growing family.

Living Room

The living room centers around the remodeled stone fireplace with custom built-ins. Our clients shared that they were drawn to the layered, collected aesthetic often seen in Nancy Meyers films, and that inspiration shaped the overall approach to the space.

We selected all new furnishings, including a sectional, sofa chairs, ottomans, and additional seating to accommodate their large family during holidays and gatherings. We mixed florals with stripes and plaids, used soft color palettes and classic finishes to ground the space. Layered patterns in blues, greens, and creams tied it all together.

Dining Room

The clients’ existing dining table was incorporated into the refreshed space and paired with new upholstered chairs. Neutral fabric was selected for the side chairs, with a blue striped fabric at the heads of the table for contrast and pop of color. Existing canvas artwork was reframed to elevate the overall look.

Powder Bath

Last but not least, the powder bath got a refresh to match the rest of the main living spaces. We went with a striking blue-gray color for the cabinets and layered in textured woven wallpaper.
