With a new year here, we start thinking about a new list of things we want to do around the house. January is the perfect time to look over every square inch of your property, assemble a list and then prioritize it. This is where we can help! Many years of varied client projects have given us the bank of knowledge to speak to any of the needs on your list. There is a right and wrong way to approach this list so here’s a simple break down.

January is a great month to start your inside projects such as remodeling your kitchen, bathroom or even your closet. A total remodel of a kitchen would cost you in the range of $30K to $90K and a bathroom $7K-$20K depending on the size of your room and your specifications. This would be for new cabinets, counter tops, appliances, plumbing, light fixtures, paint and flooring. You should expect this to take about 8-12 weeks. But this does not have to be a total remodel because there are many ways to update your kitchen or bathroom based on your specific needs. Access what you can keep and work a plan from there! This is where we can help you to make a plan and set a budget specifically for you.

Sometime in February or throughout early spring is the best time to start those outdoor projects so that you have time to enjoy them when the weather is nice. Adding a new outdoor living space, replacing old light fixtures, resurfacing your patios, new outdoor furniture, and planning a new landscape along with the needed paint and stain on your house takes some time and planning. Start now by setting a budget for these areas. We’re always available if you need help designing or executing the project.

As June and the summer months approach, it’s good to begin thinking about freshening up your living spaces or bedrooms. Whether it is just new paint and flooring or a redesign of space, doing it during the summer allows you to have a mess inside while you enjoy the outdoors. Take inventory of your current furniture and decide what you can and cannot part with. Set a budget and let us see how far we can make it go! For all new furnishings in a living room you should plan around $20K depending on the size and style you want to accomplish. Sometimes painting an old furniture piece can make it look new again and save some money.

We always try to wrap up any big remodel projects by the holidays. To be able to do this, we schedule a lot of our projects 6 months in advance. This gives us time to do the design within your budget and get our timeline set for your project. So, GET GOING because it is never too early to start planning what is on your 2018 home list!
