Fall is one of our favorite seasons around Kirkendall Design. The thought of cozy socks & coffee mugs, layered clothing, and spiced candles are heavenly! We love to decorate for fall but it can often be time consuming and expensive. There are a few different ways to add to a room and make it feel more like fall without having to start a new DIY project. Just a touch here and there and… VOILÀ!
Food is an inexpensive way to add some seasonal flair. Replace the current accessories in your kitchen with a simple basket of apples or pears. Better yet, use fresh flowers to really bring in the colors of the season. It’s never a bad idea to put a bowl of candy corn on the island or trick-or-treat candy on the coffee table. Your kids will thank you.
A few accessories can go a LONG way! If food isn’t your thing, a bowl of acorns or a nice fall candle will do the trick. Mason jars are still a hit, so don’t be hesitant about putting out those cute ones you got on sale last year. Instead of using your everyday pillows, add new pillows with fall colors. Adding a textured throw will also add extra warmth and dimension to the space.
A little witch hat on the dining table or at the end of the bannister is a cute way to add a touch of Halloween to the mix. Add a few pumpkins here and there, and swap out some of your greenery for fall plants and the overall effort equals better design through simplicity. Firework fountain grass, purple pixie fringe flowers, and mums are all good ideas to give off the cozy feeling of fall.
It’s not about changing an entire room to look like a fall dreamland, but adding and swapping hints of fall to an already decorated room to make a seasonal impact.
Whatever way you decide to do it, enjoy it. Have a great fall y’all and don’t forget to tag @kirkendalldesign in some of your pinches of fall!
