This month we’re discussing workspaces in our Liveable Spaces feature.  So, what makes for great design in a home office or study nook? First, we always consider how our clients will use the space because this dictates how we design it. Secondly, we believe really good design comes together when it reflects who our client is today as well as the journey that brought them here.  With that said, let’s get on to sharing some of our favorite workspaces and why we love them…

This client wanted a co-working space for both husband and wife.  Rather than floating the desk right in the middle of the room, we brought it out from the window, so as not to take up a lot of space.  The end result was stunning.  You can almost feel the creativity spiraling about this home office!

The next workspace was created with functionality and children in mind.  We love the open-shelving for displaying artwork and the closed cabinets provide storage to keep supplies out of sight.  Homework stations are becoming more and more popular in homes with kids because it allows for a designated space the littles can call their own, while tackling homework and other projects.  The bonus: Parents can keep an eye on computer usage.

This contemporary office is another one of our favorite designs. We used glossy white accents to enhance the sense of brightness and installed a monorail track light to provide overhead task lighting for the space.
Sitting areas aren’t just for a pair of club chairs anymore.  Here we chose glamorous gold accents for this home office, which occupies the sitting area in the master bedroom and overlooks a beautiful pond.  It’s the perfect spot to find inspiration and get caught up on those daily home office tasks.
